Peculiar Mess in the House of God

Peculiar Mess in the House of God

In our society and that goes for every society, religious people are held and judged based on different standard from ordinary people. Pastors, Imams, Prophets, Priests are held in high standards. They are expected to maintain a very ethical living, devoid of lies, cheating and all those things that we ordinary people do and can get away with.

These people don’t have excuse when it comes to crime or sins because we believe they know more than we do.

I have been a member of the Cherubim and Seraphim church for more than 46years now and all my life what I am seeing happening in the United States, is contrary to what I expect.

I have mentioned before that those who parade themselves as higher rank church leaders in the Ayo Ni O Movement in USA are not who can attract new souls. This is not being judgmental but stating the obvious.

You can lie, forge church check, embezzle church money, sleep with church members and still be promoted.  It is easier to become a church elder now if you do all aforementioned.

I am not sure if the Church bases his activities on the scripture any more. I am not sure if the Church‘s actions are guided by the Holy Spirit any more.

In July 2010, the leader of one of the branches of the Ayo Ni O in Maryland was removed based on some behaviors that were unbecoming. The leader who was then Most Senior Apostle was removed; his replacement was later alleged to have embezzled $17,500.00 belonging to the Church. He even forged a check- He changed a $1,200.00 check to $7,200.00. Unfortunately for him, the church had fewer funds in the account. This man opened the church account in his name and has his name on the Church Debit card, the leader then didn’t care. The man paid car notes, shopped at Marshalls, 7-Eleven and did a lot with the church account and could not explain how he spent $17,500.00. What was shocking was that the elders who came to the meeting, heard the horrific things done retained the man as the leader of the Church, even with the criminal act.

During the Church last Annual convention, all these ‘men of God” were deemed fit for anointment and were promoted from Most Senior Apostle to Special Apostle, from Apostle to Senior Apostle.

These guys who detested outsiders leading their church in August 2010, now went to beg the same man they detested and resisted from leading their church after the check forger had led the church for 2 years without success. They went to beg.  This man surprisingly was at the church meeting where it was revealed that the acting leader of the church forged check.

In a surprising way, Mr. Fix-it accepted to lead the church after negotiation. Now to lead a church is not a call from God, but by negotiation in a board room manner.

To get the endorsement and approval of their Church General Overseer, they had to lie to him.

The Worldwide Overseer visited the US recently- Baba Aladura Abidoye. They lied to Baba Abidoye that the check forger was the founder of the church. Baba bought their lies because he did not know the truth.

This is the truth, Orisun Iye, as the Church was called then was not founded by anybody, and it was a collaboration of people who broke away, led by Mr. Kolawole Rufai. Their reason for breaking away was a baseless accusation that the leader of their former church- Iyanda was diabolic. Mr. Rufai known for such hanky-panky won some members to leave. Adewale Adenegan AKA Adenegan Adesegun was mandated to register the church. He registered the church in the name of the founding members but he pulled a fast one on his fellow dissidents. Adenegan registered the church making himself the “Sole Administrator.” The General Secretary of the church was just there but Adenegan writes all the letters because the Church Secretary – Fatai Atere does not even know what the position entails. Rufai later knew that Adenegan registered the church in his name as the Sole Administrator but did not did nothing to change it. While they were starting the new church, Adenegan who was believed to be the most educated of the four Musketeers then was asked to draft the Church Bylaw. He had already written in the Bylaw that in the event of the removal of the Leader ‘the next ranking officer of the church would be the Acting Leader.” So he automatically relieved Rufai after Rufai was impeached on August 22, 2010.

So, they sold the lie to Baba Aladura Abidoye, and the unsuspecting Overseer endorsed Tayo Okupe as the new leader of the Church. Okupe was a member of the Washington DC branch of the Ayo Ni O. He was the Secretary of the DC District Zone and was at the meeting where Adenegan was accused of mismanaging $17,500.00 belonging to the Church.

As if this is not enough; Okupe was promoted to Most Senior Apostle position few months ago; Adenegan was ordained Senior Apostle and Atere was ordained Apostle from Teacher.  Just over the weekend, Okupe is now a Special Apostle. I learnt Adenegan is now Most Senior Apostle while Atere is now Senior Apostle.

The question is how do people get ordination now in Aladura Church? It is the same Church that says that to be a church leader you must have Diploma in Theology that now allows anybody to lead and ordains randomly. Ordination as I know, in my over 46 years in this ministry, is based on guidance of Holy Spirit not on nepotism and guts.

My concern is what happens to people who go this kind of church for spiritual direction, when the leaders are 100% canal. When the driving force was purely human and not spiritual. How do we allow this to happen under our watch in the House of God?

Ti Ipile ba baje Kini Olodo yi o se?

  1. It is important to get your facts right. I do not know about the monetary accusations, but I know that Adenegan and Okupe both have diplomas in theology. At least Okupe graduated from theology school over 7 years ago. We both attended the same school here in the U.S……

    1. I know Adenegan was doing his PhD in Theology. Please read my post very well. My comment on Theology degree was general, it was not about Adenegan or Okupe it was about failed policies of the Ayo Ni o Movement.
How many Church Leaders has it?
As for the monetary one I stand by that.
